She tried it out but couldn&#39;t source the silver to make it cost-effective. The Bronze, and copper are somewhat cheaper than Rio and others. The white bronze and steel are not offered anywhere else, to my knowledge. <br />I&#39;m sure if you ask Hadar she might have some other tips for working with clay in dry climates. Her blog is followed world-wide and I&#39;m sure someone has brought this up before. In her neighborhood it can get quite warm but of course the bay area has more humidity than you have in Tucson no matter the temperature.<br />In my opinion (I&#39;m not certified either) the certification is not worth the discount. The only caveat is if your student pool is interested in becoming certified, it may be a benefit to have that certification to pass along to future students. Certification will have to be a decision based on your needs and future aspirations. <br />You should try Hadar&#39;s formulation sooner than later. You will love how smooth and silky it is. We all tried the commercial brand when it first came out and straight out of the package it cracked when you tried to make coils with snakes. It even cracked when you cut out circles (at least for me and others in her class). I have clay sitting around that I haven&#39;t used up yet because Hadar&#39;s works so much better. Everyone has a different &#39;touch&#39; and you should experiment with it before deciding for yourself. <br />If you have some lead time...check out Hadar&#39;s to see what you think before committing to the certification class. Although, I envy your being able to take a class, any class, from CeCe. I really like her work. What I have found from the 3 teachers I have taken metal clay classes from, everyone has tips and secrets that are specific to their methods and style. Most teachers have something special that you can learn from them that is &#39;new information&#39;.<br />Regarding resin...as you can see at the top of my blog (Resin Research), I am in the process of trying out various formulations for various applications. Soon to come...a review of Debra Adelson&#39;s book The Art of Jewelry: Plastic &amp; Resin. My studio is not air conditioned so blowing air is not a problem. Tucson generally has very dry air which causes me to work faster than I prefer. PMC dries very quickly and cracks even with spritzing. I am doing a lot of research at the moment regarding resin and its applications. Later this year I will be presenting on this topic to my metal clay guild. My specific focus is in using resin to strengthen objects, fabric, paper for inclusion into jewelery pieces.<br />Do try Hadar&#39;s formulations. I studied under her for a year...I am local to her, lol. She is the most forthright instructor I have had in any class. She is very giving (re: her blog) and shares all her hard work researching metal clay. You will love the clay powder not just for its shelf life, but because it constitutes into the most elastic and workable state. Now that she has the quick fire formulations you save money on &#39;kiln time&#39;. <br />Tip...working in hot environments (or just in general)...one of Hadar&#39;s students thought up this idea. Use a report cover (available in office supply stores). One side is a see through sheet and often the back part is an opaque color. Do all your mixing and rolling between the covers of the &#39;report cover&#39;. In this way the clay is not repeatedly exposed to the air. As well you can spritz it (with distilled water only) along the way and you keep your hands and roller clean as well by working it between the covers. You still can not leave it lying around without it drying out.
